The weather is getting cooler. The nights are getting longer. The classes are coming to an apex. Soon it will be winter break.
Tomorrow we have registration for next semester. There are only 15 credit for next semester and three of them will be taken during the mini-mester in January. That leaves 12 credits to be taken up in the spring. Of those 12, six are for full days in the hospital and labs. We will work two 8 hours shifts in the hospitals. Three hospitals with different emphasis - Maternal/Newborn, Peds, Psych. I'm chosen the hospitals I want to work at, but I don't know if I'll get my choice or not. Mostly I picked based on where I live as I don't want to have to come from DC on a Friday at 3:30 pm. The days are 6:30 - 3:00 either T/Th or T/F or W/F, with labs being on the alternate day. Monday is the heavy class day.
The class in the mini-mester is from January 7 to the 17, if I understand it correctly. We will be in school full time, 7 hours a day. Since it's community nursing, I have the hope that we will have a little time in some sort of clinic, but that may just be hopeful thinking!
I don't think we need to buy any additional books. Phew!
As far as the tests from last week, I got a 96 (and I missed one because I can't spell!) and an 88. To the best of my knowledge, the 88 is a high grade. Everyone else I talked with got grades in the 70's. But I don't know for sure.
Tomorrow my concept map is due (at least the rough draft) for clinical. I worked on it most of the weekend. It's difficult to come up with a good 'map' when they don't tell you what is expected. I'm rather discouraged by the whole thing, frankly.
B. got the car back, but I wonder how long before something else goes wrong. Teens and cars are not necessarily a good thing, imo. I hope one of my children is responsible as a teen, but it seems like a big hope. Ah, young 'uns.
