the past 48 hours...

Rough week... (did I mention that I had two presentations on Monday, a final on Tuesday and a lab, and then...)

I had a final on Wednesday at 8 AM. Then a class from 10:30 - 12:30. Then I left campus and drove to Caribou Coffee and picked up a 5 gallon container of coffee for my research class. It was $65.00, plus tax. I drove back to campus (remember, it snowed on Wednesday) and took the coffee into class, drove to the parking garage, walked back to class and got in my chair only 10 minutes late (this whole thing took an hour). My group did it's presentation on caffeine and diabetes and we provided the coffee for everyone. At least we tried to stay away for the other 13 presentations in nursing research!

I was on the phone with K (I mean N, because the name has changed) b/c there was no heat in the apartment and N needed to come home, in the snow, NOW! Oh well. N made it in by midnight. I went to bed at 11:30, but got a call at 2:30 saying that my client was in labor and that I needed to go right now to the house... whatever. I got up and drove in the freezing cold to the home only to discover that this client was probably not having a baby anytime soon. I left, because I had clinical at 6:30 and needed to get SOME sleep! The midwife was going to call the other birth assistant if things picked up. I guess they never did. Argh!

I got home at about 4:30 AM and showered and looked online to see if my clinical was canceled, or delayed. They didn't make the decision until 5:15 AM so I didn't get to go back to bed until 5:30. Then I needed to be up by 7:30 and out of my house by 8:30 to get to the hospital by 9:30, only to find out that the rest of my group didn't delay coming in (even though that was the school policy...i.e. don't go to the hospital if the school is closed)! UGH!!! How bad did that make me look?

Anyway, I finished up there at 1:30 and came home, but couldn't sleep so I watched a bunch of Netflix films and then went to bed at 5 PM, only to get up at 7pm and go to church to run the practice from 7:30 to 9:45. I think it was about 11:30 again when I got to bed Thursday night.

I got up this morning (Friday) and went to my clinical were we learned to 'assess' newborns! Duh, like I don't know this one. Then I went to the LAST CLASS for the semester, a boring class on dying. Yeah, whatever.

I did get to go to lunch with two friends, which was a real blessing. We went to a little hole in the wall cafe and had some great soup. I got home and watched tv with my daughter (she laid next to me on the couch, it was nice to be near her!) Now I'm getting ready to go to a concert at school with my son. Christmas music. Anyway, I've also got tickets to a show tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow night is a party with people from school. I haven't decided to go or not, probably not, but we'll see. Then Sunday and music and then I have an online test to take for Tuesday.

Monday I am off!!!

Tuesday I have clinical skills checkout on IV's and catheters. I have a meeting with my clinical instructor to review my 'progress' in the hospital environ. The biggest obstacle in my getting an "A" is that I have such low grades on the written busy work from that class. YUCK! Hates it. Anyway, in the afternoon I am meeting with Deb to go over the test info for the final final on Monday the 17th. Wednesday I don't have class, or any finals, or any tests! Friday I have to be at school to take a computerized final for nursing fundamentals. Who knows how that one will go? So I guess I get Thursday off, yeah!

Then Monday afternoon I will start to clean and decorate the house for Christmas. No, I take that back, I will go Christmas shopping! Then I will clean and get ready and let the kids decorate for Christmas. :-)
