Back to school

Today is little N's birthday. Twelve. Nice non-teen number. Guess next year on this day I will have three teenagers again. Happened before and it will happen again.

School has started with a bang. Yesterday's clinical was in the psych ward. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. The floor itself is pretty old and dingy. The ceiling is low and the feel of the place is rather claustrophobic. Too bad it isn't a nice 'Beverly Hills' type of facility. I'd rather be crazy in a beautiful hospital than an ugly one, but I suppose the lack of funding for mental health and whole attitude of the community of 'not in my backyard' lends itself to locking people up and forgetting about them. Still, an nice environment (milieu) would be helpful. It's hard to get people in who need help. It's hard to keep them there long enough to get the help they need. It's hard to get them back into the community functioning well.

So, I have too many things to do, again, and not much time to get them done. I will be working at a 'running' pace, as they say in our program. Run us through the drill and hopefully get out alive and able to pass the NCLEX and become registered nurses.

Oh boy!
