Good Friday

As usual, I feel overwhelmed and overworked and overtired. I have three little boys in the house right now, spent the night is the youngest. J is not back yet from skiing and I haven't heard from J, but should be home later today, if I remember the plan correctly. Everything I have heard was good, so I'm not overly concerned about J. Tomorrow there is a soccer practice which J is supposed to attend. Other than that, not much but a little homework to do for J before school starts again next week....oh and a couple of games I'm sure.

The second born is the current issue. B has been in a bit of trouble b/c of driving issues. Yesterday B got a letter from the state with the notice of the total unpaid fines for motor vehicle incidents and unpaid tickets. The only positive note is that B did see a counselor on Wednesday and said he'd go back next week for another session. Hopefully this will be fruitful. I was happy to see B not acting like everything was fine. His attitude and behavior at the counseling session did appear to be pretty much what it is in the real world, so that's a big step in the right direction. When people try to put a 'pretty' face on their behavior, then it takes more work to figure out what's going on with them. DH bought the book for B that B is supposed to read. Hopefully he will read it and that will open up a bit of the conversation with the counselor, who's last name is the same as ours, btw.

NK is home today, but going back to school tomorrow, or later tonight. I desire to spend some time with NK, but don't know if that will happen. I'm pretty much planning to be home until 6 pm tonight when the Good Friday service at church will need my attention. I have to type the songs in the computer and set up for the service which is from 7-8 pm.

I have a HUGE test on Monday that I MUST DO WELL ON and a big presentation for Tuesday at the hospital. The presentation will take a few hours (10?) to complete, so I'm planning on working on that today and tomorrow, while studying for the test. Then there is a lab check out on nasogastric tubes (the feeding tubes that are threaded through the nose to the stomach). Fortunately we do this on a dummy! Thursday I will have a checkout on a patient in postpartum and then I will be done with the written portion of the clinical. Only another week or so and I will be moving on the National Children's Hospital. Blech.

I did request to be put in a mother/infant unit for my preceptorship. I just don't want to add any more work to my life. If I can stay there, I may have a chance of success, with minimal external grief. Med/surg would be more difficult and I can't handle more difficult!!!!

That's my update. I miss Spring Break!!!!!
