News!!!!

Yesterday the nicest thing happened!!!!

Oh, what was it, you ask?????

I was taking out the kitchen trash (no, that's wasn't it) and when I was outside, in the dark, I heard it.

What did I hear, you ask?

I heard the very first sign of Spring!

Yes, you guessed it---the PEEPERS! They started their annual chorus of hope for warmer weather. You see, the peepers are these frogs that every spring believe that this year, maybe this year, they will become birds. How do I know this? Well, every year in the depths of winter these beautiful little creatures decide to climb out of their comfy winter environs and crawl up into the trees and sing. And sing they do! They are a chorus of wonderful noise and sound and echo. They sing to the gods of bird and sky and ask for a miracle. Why else would they be in the trees?

Silly frogs.

But they are wonderful to hear and the herald the beginning of the end of winter. Yes, I know the trees are starting to bloom and the daffodils are popping out of the mulch looking for a reason to hope for sun and not snow, but the peepers are the true heralds of the coveted Spring Awakening.

And I heard them last night and I made my kiddos and dh come outside to listen. They, however, didn't seem as impressed as I, but still, it was a wonderful moment. One not to be overlooked, even in a blog about nursing school.

So there you have it. Spring is officially coming. I know for sure, I heard it from the frogs.

March is a cold, muddy month here. We won't hear the peepers for weeks. But I did see crocusses coming up through the snow last Sunday.

Spring hopes eternal.
