Ying and Yang

Sometimes you have to take the good and the bad together. Today I got the results back from last weeks test (finally) and I'm happy about it. However, I also have a son who is in jail tonight for being a stupid driver.

Thankfully, he didn't hurt himself or anyone else and he has not drug, weapons or other 'criminal' charges against him. He was driving recklessly and he did try to evade the police. That's a BIG no-no. So now he is spending a few days in jail until we can figure out what to do and how to raise the money to get him out. The attorney cost are $5,000 for the retainer. Then there is the car that is impounded, and crashed, and probably a total loss (no insurance for that, as he had only collision since his encounter with the tree in the fall).

But I did get an 'A' for my maternal health rotation in clincals today. So 2/3 of the grade in that class is an 'A' but the new section starts on Thursday. And this the the teacher who is very scary to me. At least I can try my best and we'll see what happens.

But the IRS sent us a nice letter saying we owe them $2,300 from last year. Something about interest that was reported in the wrong way or something. The CPA will have to figure it out for us. It was some Series E bonds that dh mom gave him because they were purchased so many years ago that they were no longer earning interest. The total was only $3 or $4K and the IRS counted it all as interest and want more than 1/2. Argh. I am glad dh is dealing with it and not me. I'm just not able!

Then there is the referral we need from the doc to pay for the counselor for the son who is in jail. I ended up speaking with the doc, who is trying to get me the referral but wanted to know when she could see the son. I told her I'd bring him in as soon as he is out of jail! She thought that was a good plan and also agreed that a counselor was a good idea and would get us the referral, if possible.

So life goes on. I have very few moments of rest and relaxation. Very few moments of peace and calm. I guess that is just the period of my life that I'm in and I have to cope. The other son was throwing up tonight. Tomorrow was a field trip day, so he's pretty disappointed that he may have to miss. J stayed at school until practice, which ended at 9 pm.

It was a long day.
