No mail

Wait! No mail today from the school. Bummer. Didn't really move forward at all. Just found out that I need to get a student ID before I can get a parking pass, and can't get the parking pass until August 1st.

Have been reading a book about the nursing profession. It's pretty discouraging. The whole system seems to be designed to thwart good communication between doctors, nurses and patients (who are being called 'clients' by some now). And what is it with Doctors and titles? Why do we say Dr. Soandso but just call the nurse by their first name? Why not Dr. Bob (or Barb) and Nurse (last name)? Or TITLE: Name both the same? Why the familiarity with the nurse but not the doc? Why degrade anyone??? I'm wondering what to put on my name tag. Should I put Ms. Last name, Student Nurse? Or First name, Last name, Student Nurse; or Nurse Lastname, Student? I think I prefer the latter, but I wonder if I will have a choice. One can only hope.

Name and titles and how we address each other DOES matter. I want to address professors as professors. Not as buddies or peers. Personally, I like calling doctors by their first names. Makes everyone think twice about playing those stupid power games. I had one client (and I have been calling them clients for years, because they hire me and they are my clients!) who asked every doctor if she could call them by their first names. 'gotta love it! She put the neonatalgist in his place but I don't think he liked it. Stuffed shirt!
