Disappointment x3

I've been working so much, I don't have time to sit and reflect on anything. Sunday we had a mandatory IBL which lasted from 5-7:30 and was on the main campus for school. This was my 'day off', but didn't feel very relaxing. We earn points for participation, so we have to pay attention and make appropriate remarks. Whatever

Monday I worked 3-11 with Deborah. I got home and to bed by midnight and up at 5:45 to be back at the hospital by 6:45. I worked until 7 pm. Then I get home and about the time I'm in bed (was it 9ish?) I get a call from the midwife saying one of my repeat clients is in labor and am I going to come or is someone else. I just didn't have the energy to go in! I wanted to, though. Lori went in and did the birth (which, of course, was fast!)

I actually slept in a little bit (7:30, and then typed for an hour trying to catch up on my journaling for class. I have to journal several pages on the pathology of my clients and their conditions after every shift.) Then I went to the hospital to start a 12 hours shift (10-10). I ended up not leaving until 11:15. I got home just after 12, when I guess I forgot to turn on my the sound to my cell phone, as another client called and was in labor. Lori went (again) and did the birth for me. Bummer.

Oh, and another one of my 'intake' clients went into labor during the day. That's 3. So, I missed all the midwife births, but did lots of (unpaid) work this week. I'm not happy. It's a real 'rubber meets the road' moment for me. Up to now I've been pretty lucky about getting to births while in school. But this is probably more realistic of what it would be like if I was working full time and trying to do births. Don't think that will happen. Either I won't work full time, or I will not keep attending births. I'm torn.

I'm also very tired today, and I have to prepare a presentation and paper for the IBL that is scheduled for tonight at 6:30 in Alexandria. Bummer!

So, worked 33.5 hours since Monday at 3 pm. Missed 3 births (that would have paid!). Made zero income. Such is life. I'm just tired and bummed.

Oh and Neve and Ryan moved out last night. They still have some belongings and furniture to move, but they spent their first night in their new apartment together last night. I saw them for a few minutes before they left. Neve is probably going to go to France for two weeks in August with one of her bridesmaids. Yeah her.

My take on the week so far.....it sucks! School wise, I had my midterm evaluation, which was fine, but I'm just beat! When do I get a break???
