Bit o' Chance

After much review and reading, I have made my selections for my classes. For whatever good that will do me. Three of the 'choices' were for classes/labs that meet at the very same time but with different instructors. However, the names of those instructors is evidently a big secret because it's not on the printed Schedule of Classes nor on the paperwork sent to me. What kind of choice is it then? Pick secton 201 or 202, meeting at the same time, different classroom. Seems a bit of a waste of time to ask me to pick if I have absolutely no indication of the differences between the selections. A bit of chance.

Of the classes I DO have a choice here is what I requested:

305
1st - 1:00 to 3:50 R

310
1st - Fair Oaks
2nd - Reston (I HOPE its not L&D!)
3rd - Fairfax
4th - Fairfax
5th - VA Hospital Center
6th - Fairfax
7th - Alexandria
8th - Sibley
9th - GW

Pretty boring reading, I know. The point that I thought of interest was that I'm probably the ONLY student who has actually WORKED in all of these hospitals before. I made my selections based on the fact that I have to be there at 6:45 AM two days a week and I'd prefer the shortest commute. Nothing noble here. Then I wanted the hospitals with the lowest parking fees (b/c I don't have a clue if I'd have to pay to park or not, but I'd rather not!) Alexandria, Sibley and GW would be the farthest from home and thus the longest commutes. Although Alexandria DOES have free parking and Fairfax has paid parking. It was a trade off for time and miles on the road. We'll see what the implications of these choices are to be later. I can only HOPE I didn't make a mistake. Hate these false 'choices' as I may not have made the same choices if I had more information.

319 - no real choice there (same time, no info to differentiate)
334 - ditto
425 - on campus labs my 1st choice is Friday 8:30 - 10:20

The worst case scenario is that I would have class on Thursdays from 6:45 AM to 6:50 PM and then have to go to worship team rehearsals at 7:30 PM! I really, REALLY, don't want this to happen. If it does, I will have to change the worship team rehearsals to another night. Otherwise I'd have to quit that job, which I don't want to do. It will be hard enough if I get out at 3:30 and have to be there at 7:30, but at least that IS doable. I don't think we will be undertaking any great new songs or arrangements for the fall! :-)

It's becoming more and more clear to me that I will probably only be able to work from late Friday evenings until Saturday nights. Maybe some of my repeat October clients will have their babies on Saturday? I hate to miss any of them and I have 3 repeats for that month. I hope I can do the supply checks and postpartum visits, at least. :-(

The other thing I did discover through this mail packet was that I will be carrying 21 credits for the Fall. This is a boatload! I hope I can handle it. The good news it the Fall only last 15 weeks, the first being in August and finals being in early December. And we get a couple of days off at Thanksgiving. (silly grin)

Clinicals don't start until week 4, so that leaves only 11 weeks of observation in the hospital (only 5 hours a day twice a week). 11 x 10 = 110 hours of clinicals, which is less than 3 weeks of 'full time' work. I can handle that! Shoot my longest birth was over 56 hours alone. Maybe it's like three REALLY long births? LOL
