Okay, here is the rest of the story

So, after I started typing on Friday night (Saturday wee morning hours), but before I finished my day, I got a call from another Birth Assistant and she asked me if I could cover for her for a client who was in labor and heading up from Fredericksburg to the birth center. I told her I could...was I crazy??

This client was having her 4th baby, so I expected it to be rather fast. Hoped for that, anyway. I called Pam to see if she wanted to go instead of me, but she said no, so I called the midwife and told her I was coming. She said that there was bad traffic on 495 so I should take another route in. Good thing I did, because I only got to the center about 12 minutes before the baby! I arrive ta 1:45 and stayed until 6:30 AM and then drove home. It was a HARD drive home since I never had any sleep.

I got to bed at 7:30 and slept until 11. Then I got up to help get the house clean and ready for the company (i.e. Rosengrant family) and the engagement party.

They got a little lost on the way in, so we ended up meeting them later than planned, but it was nice to meet RR's parents and brother. The only thing was, NK and RR decided to tell us that they were not engaged...because they had already gotten married back in March! Yeah, you read that correctly. They got married the day he went into ten weeks of training for the Ceremonial Guard!

My daughter is so good at lying to me I never even guessed she did this! Argh!!! But we are very happy for them and want them to have a wonderful, happy life. I'm so glad my mom had the 'engagement' party for them...turned into a reception of sorts. Now that they are married, they still want to plan a wedding in the fall. Whatever. And why not? I think it's grand. The wedding is now a formal ceremony commemorating and celebrating the marriage.

So we had the party and I got home, in a thunderstorm, around 9:30 last night. I went straight to bed because I knew that RC was in early labor and I needed to sleep before heading out to another (possible) birth. She called me at 2:30 and said she was in labor and wanted me asap. I had about 4 hours sleep (interrupted, but what's new?)

The labor was hard and fast and she ended up having the baby at 6:37 AM. She only pushed 16 minutes! The labor was everything she wanted and I was happy to help her get that. I left and went to church to run rehearsal and then play for the service. Then RR and his family came over for lunch. They left at 4:20 and I had to run with J to the soccer field for the parent's meeting for J's new team (and pay the fees, buy the new uniform....)

I got home just a few minutes ago and I'm going to bed in a few minutes. Not before dh left of three days. Tomorrow NKR will leave for a week in Mich. So I need to make two homevisits and then I have to get N to jr high prep school Tue-Thu from 9-12. Wednesday J is going to Creation and I guess this week will be busy, even though I don't have any classes until Friday.

So, how was your weekend?
