September 16

Only four days to go? That is something outrageous... The wedding is just around the corner. I don't know if it will all come together, but I'm hopeful.

It's been quite a busy month. I had a birth last week, and the baby transferred to the hospital NICU for breathing problems. Then I had a birth on Friday night (at 37 weeks, who goes that early???). Both of these were repeats. Then I had another client go into labor just after the one left the birth center. She was a primip from Scotland. Her husband was the sweetest man, working to help her through the labor. The labor was long, long, long. I decided to leave at midnight (after 30 hours). Shortly after I left they transferred to the hospital. The baby was born vaginally, but was sent to the NICU. Again, another NICU baby! That makes three babies for me that were not 'happy' after they were born. Gladly, the one on Friday night was just fine.

Today I spoke with a bunch of mommies. Everyone is doing well. One baby is about to be transferred to a lower level NICU. One is supposed to be discharged soon. Of course, there is the one who died, but that was through no fault of anyone.

I'm just tired of births for right now. Distracted, I guess. Trying to get the whole wedding thing together. I'm panicing, but what's new about that?

Then I heard from a schoolmate who failed to pass his NCLEX exam. Bummer. I just wanted to NOT think about that for a bit. What will I do next? I don't know. It's nice to be home, but I have too much to deal with before I can undertake heavy study for the RN test.
