TGIF!

You cannot imagine the fatigue I feel at this very moment. I am SO tired I'm not sure what day or month or year it is. I'm that tired!

So week one is now down and I 'only' have 51 to go. Last night I didn't have a moment to post a word, and this morning came so early that I almost didn't get out of bed in time for my 8:30 class. I did get off a little earlier than yesterday, but I mostly was drag'n just to get home. And I stopped off for some groceries on the way. Gas and grocery stores are the highlight of my week nowadays. I am every so glad for the garage parking!

Today was the Health Assessment lab. My lab partner, LP (as in Lab Partner), will be doing a health assessment on me this semester and I will do one for LP. There are 4 guys in the class (an even number, thank God) and I am glad LP is female. It would have been nice if she was over 25, but it should be easier for me than for her. I have so many more years of health history to go over! Poor LP. The one thing that makes her interesting (so far, and we haven't gotten far into it) is that she was a bone marrow donor this past summer. This isn't something confidential so I don't mine sharing it. I'm bragging on her. Way to go LP!

The other class was Fundamentals of Nursing which is very basic at this point, and that's fine with me. Vitals (pulse, blood pressure, temp, respirations and pain). Pain is the 5th vital sign. Something we do not ask our birth clients about when we are working with them in labor, but something that we do ask them about postpartum. At least we ask them about cramps. I wonder if it would be good to add a general question about pain? I know I broke my tail bone when K was born and no one asked me about the pain. It took a good 6 months for it to heal. Seems like it would have been good to know that on the postpartum and 2 week follow up visit. At least to discuss it. I didn't know that most people don't feel tail bone pain for months after the birth!

The good news for me is that I have a holiday on Monday and on Tuesday we don't have the morning class. This allows me to see the younger two off to the school buses in the morning. Yeah for me! I would have felt terribly guilty if I had left the house before they went to school for their very first days in public school. But now I will see them off and hopefully see them home again, too.

Wednesdays and Thursdays are the long days. Tuesday is moderately long and Mondays/Fridays are on the shorter side. Everyday is busy, though and lots of home work. It isn't hard yet, but it is exhausting.

They told us (the 2nd degree class) that we would adjust to the schedule in three weeks. I hope so! I really hope to not have too much more to adjust to, either. I'm too tired to adjust to anything else. And hopefully DH (dear hubby) will continue to have gainful employment.

What I haven't done well this week is follow up on birth client calls and emails. My partners-in-birth (hey!) are great and have taken up the slack, but I'm not sure how long that will go on. I'm really hoping to do a bunch of births over the Winter Break.

Supercaps, no less! But you need to increase the leading between the first and second line of each paragraph a smidge.

xo, Your typography teacher.

P.S. Does anal retentive have a hyphen?

(LP is lucky to have you. Your years of practical experience will no doubt rub off on her.)
